Outspoken Bahati Member of Parliament, Kimani Ngunjiri, has issued a statement in the wake of brewing divisions in Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.Kimani began by expressing his displeasure after being left out of a meeting between Nakuru leaders and the Deputy President that was held at the latter’s Karen residence on Thursday, September 2.In the statement, the MP lamented that issues were presented by aspiring United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates rather than those holding elective positions. Gikaria,” wrote Ngunjiri. “It’s rather unfortunate that this group led by the aspiring Governor did not see the need to involve other elected representatives from Nakuru to go and present issues affecting hustlers in their respective constituencies.”He alleged that the meeting did not go well with Nakuru residents who wanted to know why their leaders were not invited.”This trend of outsiders speaking on behalf of Nakuru residents was common in the past regime and unfortunately it is cropping back.””As a senior MP and the leader of Nakuru County legislators, I will not allow this to happen because it will only mean that the people of this great county will have no say when our able DP William Ruto will assume the seat of the presidency in 2022,” he continued.Kimani opined that the DP ought to crack the whip and ask all aspirants to run their campaigns without intimidating their competitors.”I will not sleep until I see DP William Ruto assume office in 2022 as the President of this great republic,” added the vocal MP.”Secondly, I will be at peace when my Bahati residents will vote me in under UDA to serve them again after scooping the award for the Best MP in Nakuru County, the rest of the seats I’m not interested in, and I will not participate in lobbying for anybody to get any elective seat.”In conclusion, Kimani asked members of his constituency to support the DP in his presidential bid come 2022.The DP met with grassroot leaders from Bahati, Subukia, Nakuru East, Nakuru West, Molo and Rongai Constituencies at his Karen Residence in Nairobi on Thursday.Nakuru Senator, Susan Kihika, who is eyeing the gubernatorial seat, was also among the present leaders.
