St George Confirms Lukwago
KCCA FC and St George Sports Club have agreed a deal for the transfer of goalkeeper Charles Lukwago to St George Sports Club.
Lukwago who has been KCCA FC’s captain for two years since 2019 succeeding Timothy Denis Awany now at Israel club Ashdod fc, joined KCCA FC at the beginning of 2016/17 season.
He had previously been at Proline FC and Lweza FC. The custodian has spent five seasons at KCCA FC and has won 2 Uganda Premier League Titles(2017,2019), Two Uganda Cups (2017,2018), Three Super Cups (2017,2018,2019), One Super 8 (2018) and a CECAFA Clubs Cup (2019).
Lukwago is undoubtedly one of the most decorated players that have donned a KCCA FC shirt. In 2019, the shot stopper captained KCCA FC to their second ever CECAFA Clubs Cup after 41 years.
The custodian was an integral figure in KCCA FC’s CAF Confederations and Champions League campaigns in 2017 and 2018.
Lukwago now a main stay on the Uganda Cranes team also won the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and was named the tournament’s best goal keeper in December 2019.
Lukwago Charles joins St George Sports Club also known as Kidus Giorgis.
St George is a professional football club based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. They play in the top division of Ethiopian football, the Ethiopian Premier League.
Charles Lukwago is 26-years-old, born on 24 November 1994, and is a professional football player from Uganda.
Ethiopian Giants Saint George FC have confirmed the signing of former KCCA FC goalkeeper Charles Lukwago on a two years deal.
He was also part of the KCCA team that clinched the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup held in Kigali, Rwanda, their second in club history.
St George Confirms Lukwago
He now joins a list of Ugandan goalkeepers that have featured for the Ethiopian side. Posnet Omony, Hannington Kalyesubula, Denis Onyango and Robert Odongkara are some of the Uganda Cranes goalkeepers who have played at St George FC.
Lukwago joins the 12-time Ethiopian Cup winners, who last won a league title in 2017.
