Turkish authorities have released from prison Ugandan blogger Fred Lumbuye.
National Unity Platform lawyer Nkunyingi Muwada said their lead lawyers in Turkey formally confirmed that Lumbuye was released from administrative detention Monday.
“Essentially Lumbuye is now out of Prison,” Muwada said on Tuesday.
“I want to thank Counsel ADNAN SAHIN and the rest of the legal team for the great legal efforts so far. I thank Ugandans globally for the solidarity in pursuit of LUMBUYE Freedom. I thank the NUP diaspora Chapters for the team work,” he noted.
He also thanked the Ugandan Community and NUP leaders in Turkey for the solidarity and all efforts.
Lawyers briefed him that inspite of his release, the non concluded cases will remain ongoing and the legal team in Turkey remain committed as it has been to logically conclude all such legal details.
“I have this morning personally held a telephone conversation with Lumbuye,” noted the Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister.
He added: “He is fine and we’ll. He is out of Prison and thanked you all for the prayers and efforts. We shall keep you posted.”
