Former Kazo District Member of Parliament (MP) Gordon Bafaki died on the spot today morning in a fatal accident after bumping into the back of a trailer.
The incident happened around 10:00am on the Northern Bypass in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb.
According Traffic Police Spokesperson, ASP Faridah Nampiima, Hon. Gordon Bafaki (48), who was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser TX, registration number UBD 965E, died on the spot and his body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem.
Hon. Bafaki was a resident of Namugongo-Kira Division in Wakiso District.
ASP Nampiima said, “It is alleged that the driver of the Motor Vehicle registration number UBD 965E knocked the rear body of the moving trailer.
“The driver of the trailer, identified as Kahagi John Kinuthia is in police custody to help in investigations.”
At the time of the accident, Bafaki was returning from Kiruhura District where he was part of the organizing committee for Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s football tournament celebrations.
Bafaki was born on November 9th, 1976, in Kazo district.
He went to Kazo Primary School, then joined Kanoni Secondary School for O’level, Standard High School for A’ level and later did a Bachelor in Education at Makerere University.
When he joined politics, he kicked former works Minister John Nasasira out of parliament after being voted as Kazo MP in 2016.
However, he also later lost the seat to Dan Kimosho in the 2021 elections.
