KAMPALA – In a surprise move, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) issued a statement disassociating itself from various publications regarding recent appointments in the judiciary. The publications in question concern the appointment of Justice Flavian Zeija as the new Deputy Chief Justice, as well as other appointments to the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and High Court.
“The Judicial Service Commission wishes to disassociate itself from these publications,” the Commission stated. “The Commission has established official channels through which all official communications are disseminated to stakeholders. These include the official X account (@JSCUganda), the website ((link unavailable)) and formal correspondence on official letterhead.”
According to the JSC, these publications are unauthorized and should be disregarded. The Commission emphasized that it is the sole authority responsible for announcing official appointments and communications.
“Any information not communicated through these official platforms should be disregarded as unauthorized,” the JSC warned. “The Commission sincerely regrets any confusion or inconvenience that may have arisen from these publications.”
According to the reports, the appointments were made under Article 142 (1) and (2) of the Constitution, which grants the President the power to appoint judicial officers.
