Bebe Cool says that surviving bullets and bombs in his life has made him a stronger person at heart and shaped him into a better man.In 2010, after a night out at Centenary Park after an R. Kelly concert in Kampala, Gagamel singer Bebe Cool was shot.In an interview with UK-based Nigerian media personality DJ Edu on the BBC podcast – This is Africa, Bebe narrates that it all started when he saw a group of artists from the GoodLyfe arguing with a policeman.Bidandi Ssali attends to a bed-ridden Bebe Cool when he was shot in 2010When he approached together with some friends, the police officer thought they’d come to save the person he was arguing with, so he immediately opened fire.Since I always move with security, I sent my man to talk to him, policeman to police man but he simply opened fire, it was traumatic, five people got injured.In July of that same year, Bebe Cool was injured in a bomb blast set by the Somali terrorist group al-Shabaab during a performance at Kyadondo Rugby Club.He says that both incidents shaped him into a stronger version of himself.I did not get any therapy after that, because our country was not yet at that level. I said, let me use this and become a stronger person, and yes, they made me a stronger person at heart.In the same interview, Bebe Cool narrates the genesis of his music career and how he gained traction in Kenya by performing at various Miss Kenya pageants.
