According to musician Big Eye Starboss, the newly approved copyright management system does not set out to solve the problems of the creatives if the copyright law is not amended in the parliament of Uganda.Big Eye while appearing on Spark TV commented on the copyright management system which was approved to be enforced by President Museveni last week.In his opinion, the management system is useless if the copyright law has not been amended and passed by the parliament.Big Eye believes that the new developments have only been put in place to find more ways of collecting money from creatives and media stations. He further noted how the trackers that have been proposed to help the copyright management system in tracking how many times a song plays at a bar are not any different from the Song Boost App which many artists already use to monitor their airplay. If you have not given us the copyright, what will the copyright management system and enforcement manage? They should stop confusing Ugandan artists. That is foolery. They have merely found new ways to collect more money from creatives and the TV and radio stations will feel the wrath of it.
Creatives have not been helped because the copyright law is supposed to be amended by the parliament. They are talking about trackers, it is not so different from the Song Boost App if it comes to tracking music airplay.
