KAMPALA – As the closure of the Kawempe By-election campaigns draws nearer, NRM has resorted to a new style of holding mega rallies to sway voters and plead with their base ahead of Thursday’s vote.
The campaign team, led by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja and officials from the party Secretariat, rallied crowds in Mpererwe, Kiganda, and Kawempe Kutaano today to send NRM’s Faridah Nambi to Parliament for better service delivery. Prime Minister Nabbanja was joined by NRM Central Executive Committee members, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi and Hon. Lydia Wanyoto, Deputy Secretary General Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko and the Director for Mobilization, Hon. Rosemary Seninde.
Nabbanja said the opposition candidates shouldn’t be supported in this election because their main aim is to fail Government Initiatives. “They always work to frustrate well-intentioned programs like the Parish Development Model to annoy the voters,” Nabbanja said, urging the voters to trust the NRM candidate this time around.
The NRM deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja, lauded residents of Kawempe North for supporting and believing in Faridah Nambi and the NRM government.
“There has been a missing chain link between the population and the government especially in Kampala and Wakiso because the leaders are from the opposition political parties,” Namayanja said as she pleaded to vote for an NRM person to close the gap.
“You have power and authority in this election to bridge this gap to government for better services,” Namayanja added as she justified the existing challenges in the area.
The NRM ticket bearer Faridah Nambi promised to sacrifice for the development of the area. “I will ensure that everyone in this constituency touches government empowerment funds from the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, ‘GROW’ project for women among other projects,” Nambi said.
She called on voters to overwhelmingly welcome the NRM National Chairman and President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday next week who will be in the area to campaign for her.
