National Unity Platform President, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine (PHOTO/File).KAMPALA – The National Unity Platform (NUP) has come under fire from a cross section of the public for listing being catholic as one of the requirements for winning the party flag in 2021 elections.
A vetting form that went viral on social media showed that singer Joseph Mayanja, aka Jose Chameleone, was vetted based on whether he was catholic on top of other principals. Chameleone lost the Kampala mayor party flag after scoring 51% from the vetting process.
This has attracted public condemnation, with several people wondering whether the party is intended to unite the country.
St. Muhereza Kyamutetera posted: “Naye I want to be in opposition, but sometimes it can also let us down.”
Hamz Ham posted: “Why is religion a very big factor in NUP to secure a card.Religion should not be and issue in this 21 century.”
Kasule Patrick said: “If we are to use the same score card on Bobi Wine, he will score worse than Chameleone.”
Kato Ambrose said: “I don’t intend to tickle people power guys…but this score card given to Chameleon is 75% Bobi Wine… Trust me nobody can recorgnise Hon Kyagulanyi minus the name BobiWine outside Kampala.”
