• Vipers SC 7-0 MYDA
January signing Yunus Sentamu and Paul Mucureezi each scored twice as defending champions Vipers Sports Club walloped MYDA 7-0 in the rescheduled Uganda Premier League fixture at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
Ceaser Manzoki, Disan Galiwango, and Ibrahim Orit scored the other three goals as the Venoms bagged maximum home points upon league restart.
Sentamu broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when he tapped in a close range rebound off Manzoki’s header past MYDA’s goalkeeper Isaac Osikol.
The striker later doubled the host’s lead after sliding onto left back Galiwango’s low driven cross, beating goalie Osikol for his second on the 29th minute.
On the 39th minute mark, Congolese forward Manzoki stretched Vipers’ lead to three off a powerful header that hit the back of the net thanks an Allan Kayiwa assist.
With just a minute to the break, Manzoki and Paul Mucureezi engaged in an interplay before the latter rounded off custodian Osikol and placed the ball in an empty net as the scoreline read 4-0 at halftime.
From recess, MYDA tactician Abdulswamad Musafiri introduced Eric Mutebi and Mafabi Isma for Mark Baasi and Moses Batali, resorting to damage limitation.
Before he could pave way for midfielder Orit, Mucureezi pocked home the team’s fifth and his second on the evening. He raced into the box and met Manzoki’s pass before tapping home.
In the final five minutes, Galiwango joined the scoring party when he dribbled his way into the box before shooting on the near post past MYDA goalkeeper and skipper Osikol.
Super substitute Oriti later put an icing on the cake after collecting a midfielder David Bagoole’s through ball and fired home from inside the area.
After the thrilling win, Vipers leapfrogged past Police to 3rd, tallying ten points with a game in hand while MYDA is second from the bottom with one point.
Vipers SC and MYDA will play against Express FC (Tuesday 9th) and Sports Club Villa (Saturday 13th February) in their next respective league games.
