Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Sunday, February 7, advertised a mass recruitment exercise targeting General Service Unit (GSU) cadets, specialist officers, general duty recruits, tradesmen/women and constables.The recruitment is expected to begin on Monday, February 8. The military body published a document detailing rules and documentations candidates are expected to present at the recruitment centers in order to stand a better chance at clinching the job.Covid-19 rulesAll participants are expected to acquaintance themselves with directives from the Ministry of Health aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19 virus. A past KDF recruitment driveFile The rules include constantly wearing a mask, observing social distancing, cleaning of hands and maintaining of safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing among others.”General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets (Undergraduate degree holders), General Duty Recruits and Defence Forces Constables will be recruited at the Sub-Counties by KDF Recruiting Teams which will visit Recruitment Centres on various dates as indicated in the Advertisement.”Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/women (Technicians and Artisans) are required to apply before 8th February 2021 using the specified postal address in the advertisement (carried in local dailies),” read the statement in part.Academic requirementsIn all the six categories whose positions were advertised, all the candidates will present themselves at their respective Recruiting Centre in the Sub-County.They are all expected to carry original and four clear copies of Kenya National Identify Card, four clear copies of PIN Certificate, original and clear photocopies of Academic Certificates and Transcripts as well as original and clear photocopies of the professional body membership.Also, the agency noted that General Service Officer Cadets (Undergraduate degree holders) are not required to apply for recruitment.”All the General Service Officer Cadets including the Undergraduate degree holders will be required to present themselves for the recruitment at the Recruitment Centres at their respective Sub-Counties during the stated 3 recruitment dates as applicable to them with the relevant documents listed in the advertisement,” added the statement.Cadets Vs Specialist OfficersAll candidates GSO Cadets (Undergraduate degree holders) will be expected to present their original and clear photocopies of Academic Certificates and Transcripts during the recruitment at the Recruitment Centre.All the Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/women are, however, expected to present various documents to be considered.They include four clear copies of Kenya National Identify Card, four clear copies of KRA PIN Certificate, clear photocopies of the Academic Certificates and Transcripts as well as clear photocopies of professional body membership. No one can influence the recruitment process,” the military advised.In general, all applicants are also expected to be Kenyan citizen with no dual citizenship and be in possession of a valid Kenyan ID.They are also expected to be physically and medically fit in accordance with the KDF standards and have no criminal record.Age – Between 18 and 26 years old for GSO cadets, general duty recruits and tradesmen/women with certificates/government trade test, not above 30 years for specialist officers, Tradesmen/women with diplomas, and not above 39 years for chaplains/imams.
