Following what appeared to be a Hollywood blockbuster fire film at Makerere University on Sunday, several full throat opinions have emerged from various alumni and stakeholders. What has caught our eye is this well pieced argument from an anonymous source who patterns the span of fires and intended destruction of gazetted and heritage sites ranging from the two time attack on the Kasubi tombs, to Owino and the relocation of the city clock tower to now the razing down of a UNESCO heritage building in Makerere University. In his argument, this alumnus says the move is deliberately planned by the Museveni regime which is now on the edge of its exit.

I have been trying to critically examine the mind and motivation for the fire arsonist at Makerere University and I have found a part of the answer in criminology/psychology of compartmentalization!

The other partial explanation is the Regime’s deliberate to play deception against the likely inquiry into Ministry of Education funds/reopening of schools and the longstanding Government secret plan to demystify the achievement before Museveni generation especially heritage sites and treasures like important monumental places. While the regime drifts and shifts resources to their accomplishments like private schools, hospitals, arcades, malls and other businesses, they are deliberately failing some sectors of Govt including key infrastructure like hospitals to create a financial bleeding artery so they may tap into the spending power of Govt to restoring what they have destroyed like Makerere. These people (Nawangwe and the first family) have their private architectural companies which will eventually win all the tenders to restore things they have destroyed like Makerere. Look into how they have all rushed into restoring the building instead of explaining to the public what started the fire. We understand Nawangwe had already valued the building a year before. Police should ask him why he valued the building in advance. Was he planning something destructive in future?
