An elderly man is battling for his life at Bududa hospital after being hacked into coma by his son over a land dispute.
The 65-year-old Lawrence Wanzusi was hacked On Tuesday morning by his son Michael Muboki, a resident of Muririnyi Village in Bubore parish in Bunabutiti Sub County in Bududa district.
According to information obtained by our reporter, chaos erupted after Muboki went to cut trees from his father’s garden to build a house without authorisation.
Charles Wakinya, the Muririnyi Village LC I Chairperson blamed Muboki, who is in custody at Bududa Central Police Station for storming his father’s without authorisation.
According to Wakinya, Wanzusi gave his son a share of the trees and wonders why he decided to go for the ones of his father.
Residents told URN on condition of anonymity that the suspect has always been violent. Angry residents have demolished the suspect’s house, saying they don’t want him in their community again.
Some of the residents say they had wanted to lynch Muboki but he was rescued by police.
Bududa District Police Commander, Hilary Nuwahereza, says that they have commenced investigations to establish what really transpired.
He says Muboki will appear in court once their investigations are complete.
