Marcus Kwikiriza has Friday left Next Radio morning show “Morning Zoo” which he co-hosted with Karitas Karisimbi.
“After many amazing years on morning radio, trying several times to quit, and failing because of my love for it, it’s time for me to finally hang up the MIC. Karitas, am going to miss that infectious smile and energy. I’m more than confident that the team will get the best replacement on the show and keep breaking radio records. Coming out of retirement for an audiovisual radio experience was more than worth it,” he posted on his Facebook page.
However, Marcus stays at the radio station as the general manager. “Yes. I am staying unless something changes,” he responded to our question as to whether he was leaving the station.
Next Radio is a subsidiary of Next Media Services Limited which also owns NBSTV.
His resignation from the show comes amid speculation that he is poised to replace Robert Kabushenga as New Vision CEO.
Kabushenga retired from the job after 14 years, but was tasked by the board to hang on for a month until his successor is appointed.
Asked if it’s true he is joining New Vision, Marcus said he was unaware.
He said that may be those peddling the rumours know something. “May be, may be not.”
