Police in Kagadi have arrested 10 people in connection with breaking into the site of Shengli Engineering Construction group. The suspects, all names withheld by police for fear of jeopardizing investigations, allegedly stole 25 drums of bitumen from the site in the wee hours of Monday. Stephen Kamar, the Kagadi District Police Commander says the thieves were found loading the drums and other materials used for road surfacing and roofing valued at 25 million Shillings, in a box body truck registration number UAA 830Y at Kitemuzi West cell in Mabaale town council.  Kamar noted that eight of the suspects are residents of Kabwoya Sub County in Kikuube District and the other two are workers of Shengli Construction Company who he believes must have connived with the thieves to steal the construction materials.The suspects were immediately taken to Kagadi central police station where they are in custody pending interrogations.    The Public Relations Officer Shengli Construction Company Godwin Tashobya says that the rampant theft of construction materials is frustrating progress of the road works.Â
The suspects face charges of theft and criminal trespass.
