Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), Matia Kasaija has provided Shs.5.1 trillion to enhance the decentralisation policy.
During budget reading at Kololo Independence Grounds today, June, 14th, 2022, Kasaija revealed that of the Shs. 48,130.7 billion (48.13 trillion), Shs.5.1 trillion will be apportioned to Local Govenments.
He divulged that Public Sector effectiveness and efficiency will be improved through the continued rationalisation of Government and Public Expenditure.
He noted that Government will embark on decongesting the Citizenship and Immigration Office in Kampala by establishing centres in the Kampala Capital City Divisions, commencing with Nakawa Division.
He further noted that salaries of medical workers, scientists, and science teachers have been enhanced by Shs. 495 billion in addition to incentivizing scientists.

“This will also help to improve the functionality of education and health facilities by addressing absenteeism and low morale of personnel,” he added.
According to the list of Local Governments allocations, Masaka District will be allotted Shs.18,8bn, Mbarara District Shs. 30.9bn, Masaka City 43.6bn, Jinja District, Shs. 43.16bn, Jinja City 47.3 bn, Mbale District Shs.41bn, Mbale City 47.1bn, Mukono District 57.2bn, Mukono Municipal Council 21.2bn, Mityana District 33.6bn, Gulu City 48.7bn among others.
