Adam Luzindana’s open letter to President Museveni over the coffee deal, says he will lose 2 million voters

President Museveni’s government has come under attack over the controversial coffee deal that saw an Italian investor wor away with a monopoly on the sale of coffee.
The open letter states,
“You are going to Loose 2m Voters”
I am sure you are not part of the agreement between the government of Uganda and Uganda Vinci coffee Ltd. The Museveni I know can’t wage a war against Coffee Farmers. Mr. President, there are around 2m coffee Farmers in Uganda and they exported 6.5million 60 kg bags of coffee in 2021 hence Uganda earning US$657million.The coffee sector is a major employment base in Uganda.
Mr. President, Uganda has many companies licensed to buy and export coffee. These companies have made tremendous contributions towards the development of Uganda through employing Ugandans, paying taxes, supporting productive corporate social responsibility, environmental support programs, etc.
Despite some shortcomings, companies in the coffee sector are the most responsible in Uganda in terms of commitment to the attainment of Uganda vision 2040 and UN SDGs.
Mr President, the deal between the Uganda government and the investor will not only create a monopoly but will destroy the so many coffee exporting companies in Uganda which closely work with ordinary coffee farmers all over Uganda.
Mr. President, you need to find out how much these companies are paying in terms of taxes and their combined investment network in our country.
Mr. President, you need to protect the coffee Farmers and you need to protect the companies licensed in Uganda to buy and export coffee…The above are your people and your true friends.
