A source privy to the information reveals that the attacker was incited by the remarks of the minister who alleged that the Parish Development Model initiative will elevate the livelihoods of the people of Bunyoro subregion and Uganda at large.
The attack on Minister Byamukama comes barely days after a similar case was registered in Amuria in Eastern Uganda. It is alleged that the minister who is also the Amuria County MP, was attending prayers at the church on Sunday when Mr Michael Okurut, a resident of Wera attacked him. The attacker was restrained and taken to the police station where he will be charged. Moments after being slapped, Minister Ecweru claimed that the attacker was a mentally handicapped man who is well known in the community.
