The Spokesperson of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye has publicly distanced the army from rape claims raised by 29 year old Alexandria Marinos, a resident of Mbuya who recently said she was sexually assaulted by CMI officers.

Addressing a press conference this Friday morning, Kulayigye who paraded the named rape suspects, a one Capt. Ali Hassan and Elias Ssengooba stated that the duo have never been in contact with Alexandria Marinos.
“Mr. Ssengooba is a civilian and a neighbor to this lady who claims that she was raped. Capt. Ali Hassan is our staff but works with the Ministry of internal affairs. Facts are very clear that these 2 were nowhere near her that day,” stated Kulayigye. “The day she alleges that she was kidnapped, she was very busy on her phone. So how can you be a kidnapped victim and you are talking to friends on phone. Of course you (media) are aware that we have access, and we can access any telephone conversation. So we have the telephone transcript to show you who she was talking with on that very day. I am going to give you those details,” he vowed.

Kulayigye adds that Marinos, “has never been anywhere in the UPDF detention unit, leave alone CMI. We cannot tell why she (Marinos) is making those allegations. We are not in her mind.”
This all comes a day after the NUP Women’s league petitioned the speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among to pronounce her position on the horrific incident imposed on Alexandria. They demanded that she gets the alleged culprits Elias Ssengooba and Ali Hassan to book. However, Kulayigye’s presser now twists the narrative with members of the public taking to social media to ask why the army mouthpiece has not allowed Alexandria Marinos to identify the faces of the perpetrators of her terror.
