Big Loss: Awach Sub County Chairperson Elect Dies Mysteriously

The newly elected LC3 chairperson for Awach Sub County in Gulu district has died mysteriously.
Fred Oteka, 41, died on Monday night at around 9:00 p.m at Awach Health Centre IV where he had been admitted complaining of stomach pain.
Richard Watmon the Paibona Sub County LC3 Chairperson and former Speaker for Awach Sub County confirmed to URN on Tuesday morning that Oteka was admitted at the hospital on Monday afternoon where he later died from.
The cause of his death still remains unclear but Watmon says they suspect the deceased was poisoned because he had earlier in the day eaten pork from one of the local restaurants within Awach Trading Centre and shortly started complaining of the pain.
Shanon Otika, the incumbent LC3 Chairperson for Awach Sub County said that the death has shocked them since the deceased had no signs of illness or even complications.
He added that the body was on Tuesday morning brought to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of his death.
Oteka who was also a businessman at Awach Trading Centre contested as an independent candidate and beat four other candidates to attain chairmanship seat in the just concluded general elections.
The others are Isaac Ojok, Ivan Anywar, Geoffrey Ojara and Christopher Kalokoya.
