Revellers were treated to some drama at a burrial ceremony after Cabinet Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Amelia Kyambadde met with her former employee, singer Hillary Kiyaga aka Dr. Hilderman after a long time.
The singer was once a loyal servant and key campaign figure to the Minister’s previous two election periods before 2021. This year, Hilderman contested against Amelia and beat her for the Mawokota South Member Parliamentary seat.
The two met at a burrial ceremony of Sarah Namboze Namboyera Mugwanya, wife to the late Zzimula Mugwanya, former Member of Parliament representing Mawokota North.
Mugwanya, according to residents had been a friend, a sister and a mother who groomed many to leadership.
Amelia represented H.E Yoweri Museveni at the send off where she came with 50m to cater for funeral services and medical bills.
Amelia encouraged Hilderman to “stop the politics of malice and noise making” but work for the people of Mawokota and Uganda as a whole.
In response, Hilderman also emphasised the message of change and assured Amelia of how the regime stole Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine’s victory in the January 14th presidential elections in which Museveni was declared second to none.
“Remind your boss that our people are yearning for smooth transition of power,” Hilderman told Amelia before adding that;
“Transition of power locally is not the core meaning of transition of power. Remember Bobi Wine won but the smooth transition was hindered further.”
Both the politicians however agreeably commended the late Namboze’s great works and services to Mawokota.
