We are reliably informed that the arrest was aimed at demobilising Kyagulanyi’s dominance in the Northern region where the NRM has all along perceieved to be their stronghold. One of the pundits knowledgeable about the Northern politics put it that, “arresting Northern Uganda NUP coordinators was a punishment for their very successful campaign mobilization for Bobi Wine. This however strengthens and emboldens the determination and resoluteness of the people of Northern Uganda who have braved 35 years of poverty under the NRM rule.” He adds that, “Photos of Dr. Lina and the other leaders behind bars only fuel the spirit of the revolutionary struggle which is bound to end the fall of the rogue and evil, family-run Museveni empire.”
After being downplayed on their narrative that the influence of Bobi Wine and NUP is only in the capital, Kampala, the regime has resorted to intimidating and arresting the NUP regional coordinators in a bid to restrain the solid dominance of Bobi Wine. Scenes of teargas, arrests and the likes have been visible in all Bobi’s rallies. This is aimed at breaking the spirit of togetherness being exhibited by the change yearning plight. By Friday morning, the EU which held talks with the IPOD leadership advised that if the opposition candidates do not sit with the EC, a revolution is likely to arise from the election period.
