In a chat with Mbu, reality TV star and influencer Mrs. Deborah Cleave a.k.a Mamideb explains more about the cosmetic procedure that was done to lift her face, the benefits, the healing process, stereotypes, and the results. In February 2025, Mamideb who is widely known for her influencing campaigns with different companies and entertaining lifestyle on Kampala Creme had a cosmetic procedure done on her face in Kampala. If I don’t like something about myself, I am going to change it if it is affordable and if the person doing it is genuine.MamidebWe had a chat with her to learn more about the procedure and the stereotypes that come with similar procedures among Ugandan celebrities:What type of cosmetic procedure did you have?We used hyaluronic acid fillers to volumize and lift my face. As we age we lose Collagen and bone hence developing laughter lines and a droopy face. By strategically placing hyaluronic acid fillers, the face is lifted.Polynucleotides (a.k.a salmon sperm) were injected to stimulate my body to make its own collagen. Furthermore, the doctors added botulinum toxin (Botox) on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and sides of the eyes to reduce the wrinkles there. Overall, they did a full liquid facelift to reverse signs of aging. What was the procedure like? The procedure was quite long, it took at least 3-4 hours. We started with the numbing process and once I was numb, they started the injections. You feel something but I wouldn’t call it painful. Why did you opt for that and what are the benefits of these procedures?I am not a candidate for surgery so these minimally invasive procedures are used in the interim to delay the need for surgery. It hydrates the face and stimulates collagen, reduces wrinkles and shrinks pores – overall facial rejuvenation for antiageing. How long is the healing process?Usually 1-2 days but a maximum of 2 weeks. What other procedures have you done on your body in the past?Nothing. I have not had any cosmetic procedures done in the pastMany local celebrities who have had procedures done on their bodies keep it a secret. What inspires you to share these procedures with your audience?Nowadays it’s not a taboo, celebrities talk about it openly as it is socially acceptable. I work with Refine Skin and Body Clinic and when they bring new equipment, I tend to try it out to show my audience how good their equipment and cosmetic procedures are.I test their skin products. I can testify that their products are genuine, their prices are friendly, and they work. I trust them so I share that with my audience so that people don’t end up trying people that are not genuine. What are some of the stereotypes about people who have done similar surgeries that you find rather strange?Usually, people say you are vain, or they call you insecure. I got a lot of comments (on social media) where people said that secure people don’t do such which is okay because people are entitled to their opinions. But I did it because if I don’t like something about myself, I am going to change it if it is affordable and if the person doing it is genuine. Is it as expensive as it is believed to be?Initially, yes. So don’t wait. Start slow and invest in your skin and health. Eat right, exercise, and don’t smoke. Use sunscreen and a good skincare routine from early on.Are the results worth it?In the beginning, you won’t think so because you will be swollen. That’s the truth. You will still have pricks from the injections. But once it settles in and you see how it looks, then it feels worth it.Advice to other women looking forward to having similar procedures on their faces/bodiesDo not just spend on any clinic because a lot of people will try to take your money and say they can do Botox and all that. Make sure you read reviews, and make sure they are genuine. In Uganda, I only recommend Refine Skin and Body Clinic because the doctors have studied this and they know what they are doing. They are not just trying to make money because the prices are affordable. Find a genuine clinic. The END
