In an effort to curb the high dropout rate at Irashagye Church School found in Rugarama sub-county Sheema district, the school administration and district stakeholders want a government takeover of the school.

The school that teaches pupils from primary one to primary four has 120 pupils and now wants the government to take over and fund it.
Upon reaching primary four, the pupils have to walk 5km downhill to Nyakarama Primary School to complete primary learning.
According to the PTA Chairman of the school a one, Natukunda more than 60% drop out of school after P.4 because the journey down and uphill daily is unmanageable by many, especially girls on a daily basis.
Against that background, the area LCI committees have petitioned Sheema LC5 Chairperson Jemimah Buhanda to have their school access government funding to get better structures, upgrade to Primary seven and also get more teachers.

The April 16th petition was signed by area LC 1 Tibategyeza Charles, Vice Chairperson Mugigi Ephraim, and nine other members of the committee.
Recently, Johnson Musinguzi Byarabaha, Chairman of Sheema Development Association toured the school facilities with PTA Chairman Natukunda and Darius Muhoozi.

Musinguzi said that he will use his position to lobby with other district stakeholders to see that the process of the government takeover is fast-tracked so that learners finish their primary education from one school.
