Kadaga at Bujagali
Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and State Minister for Minerals Hon. Sarah Opendi have toured works on the Isimba-Bujagali Interconnection Project (Bridge).
According to the contractor, the bridge is expected to be at 100% completion by December this year.
The Speaker and the Minister, accompanied by the project
contractors and UEGCL officials, also visited the Isimba Hydropower Plant that houses four generators, each transmitting 38.4 Megawatts of power.
It took effect on 13 September 2020.
The team also toured the turbines site at the Plant.
UEGCL’s Chief Projects Officer Isaac Arinaitwe, said generation of power from Isimba dam had enabled monthly collection of Usd3 million through electricity export to countries like Kenya.
“This has helped to meet loan repayments and thus UEGCL didnt have to dig into Govt coffers for that” – Arinaitwe.
