Kawempe Police Station is expected to resume operations today after the last three suspects tested negative for coronavirus.The station has only been working on emergencies since September 9 when a suspect tested positive for the virus.Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that the station will be disinfected today and operations will resume.“We currently have no person, a staff member or suspect, who is positive for coronavirus at Kawempe Police Station. The operations, including detention of suspects and patrols, are going to resume on Monday,” Mr Owoyesigyire said on Sunday.Police officers working at the station and outposts were put in quarantine in the barracks for more than three weeks. At least 14 suspects also tested positive for coronavirus 14 days after the first case.Since coronavirus was detected in Uganda, more than four police stations and the national headquarters were closed after police officers tested positive for the deadly disease.At least 7,530 people have contracted coronavirus with 73 deaths in Uganda.
