Renowned city lawyer Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka has rushed to the East African Court of Justice seeking the nullification of the nominations of Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform party and the incumbent NRM candidate Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni.

In his petition, Mabirizi challenged the manner in which the two candidates were nominated citing a few irregularities in the entire process. On the issue of the NRM candidate, Mabirizi says Byabakama nominated Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and not Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
For the NUP party candidate, Mabirizi argues that he was nominated without the right documentations as he allegedly did not present his original birth certificate to prove his nationality. Mabirizi also adds that Kyagulanyi does not possess UACE qualifications or the equivalent on top of the prevailing appeal filed before courts were the disgruntled NURP members challenge the recent Justice Musa Ssekaana ruling.
Mabirizi also projects violence in the polls and argues that the EACJ should nullify the electoral process judging by how opposition politicians are being treated by police. Mabirizi in his petition cites the FDC candidate Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi who turned up for nomination barefooted. Mabirizi strains that this degrading approach undermines what the East African Community stands for. He also notes that the EC chairperson Justice Byabakama is occupying the office illegally. “Whatever Justice Byabakama is doing is illegal because he is illegally in office,” Mabirizi notes.
