The office of the Secretary General for the East African Community has threatened to take legal action against renowned controversial lawyer, Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka over the misuse of the EAC emblem in his money soliciting campaigns.

In a press statement dated September 16, the EACJ gravely condemned Mabirizi’s actions and instituted an investigation into his money scheming where it is alleged that he has been misrepresenting and misusing court documents to boost his lobbying campaigns. “The East African Community has learnt with dismay the misuse of its Emblem by a one Mr. Male Mabirizi, a litigant in a matter before the East African Court of Justice (EACJ), Mr. Male Mabirizi is illegally using the Community Emblem and photographs of the Honourable Judges of the EACJ to among others, raise funds for personal purposes,” reads part of the press statement issued by the East African Community office of the Secretary General.
The community further reveals that they are to take legal action against Mabirizi’s unprofessional conduct. “The community, while considering legal action against him hereby disassociates itself from Mr. Mabirizi’s advert with its derogatory language and illegal use of its Emblesm and photographs of the Judges,” another excerpt reads.
If found guilty, Mabirizi is liable to a fine worth $3000 or a 3 year jail term or else suffers both retribution. “… Section 8 of the said law creates an offence for abuse of the emblem punishable on conviction by a fine note exceeding $3000 or a term of imprisonment not exceeding three years or both such a fine and imprisonment,” the statement adds.
