Mr. Mugerwa Joseph, a 3rd year student of Computing and ICT at Makerere University has spent several weeks missing since his abduction allegedly by security drones belonging to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence.

Mugerwa, according to sources familiar with the abduction is one of the student leaders in the Institutions wing of the National Unity Platform party who had been blacklisted by the university administration. Mugerwa was reportedly included on the list drafted by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe’s personal assistant, a one Gordon Murangira. He is amongst those who are being accused with having a hand in the July 14th fateful death of Bewatte Betungura, a UCU student who died in the scuffle of the Makerere guild campaigns.
“On the fateful day of de final rallies he is one of the people who helped to rush the deceased to the Hospital,” says Musiri David, the head of the Institutions wing of NUP.
“Too bad that he has spent several days at Kawempe Police Station being interrogated till this Evening when he has been taken away by an indentified people to Kololo believed to be CMI officials,” Musiri explains.
By the time of filing this report, security forces had not issued any details regarding the abduction of Mugerwa. The office of the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson did not comment on the matter saying they are still assessing the details.
