THE China WU YI CO LTD which were awarded attend to construct roads in Masaka city which is under the USMID program have blasted the Masaka city traders who dump garbages, pupu plus huge used pampas for their children in the middle of the roads they are constructing which has hindered their work to move on high speed.
Stephen Kagaba the in charge social / Human Resource manager Officer China WU YI CO LTD told Whisper Eye News that some traders dump their garbage at night and some riders pass where they are not supposed to pass and in the long run, they end up causing accidents.
Kagaba blasted all those who do not want to follow the traffic laws are likely to be arrested and detained in police cells to serve as an example to others.
“Some riders remove our things we put while constructing these roads but after getting accidents they want to be compensated which we can not accept,” says Mr. Kagaba.
Mr. Kagaba appealed to all traders and some political leaders to work as a team to support this project because they are going to benefit more after its completion.
Kagaba says they have been carrying out stakeholder meetings under the construction of the ongoing road in the city which was awarded to China Wu YI Co LTD.
UB Consulting Engineers Limited which is supervising the works told them that some politicians are trying to block the development not to allow the road to pass through their plots, and some claim road reserve land to be theirs.
Kasumba told journalists that some locals built their houses in the road reserves and now demand compensation which is affecting the ongoing construction.

“This in the long run will make the road constructed to be narrow because the government has no money for compensating them,” Mr. Kasumba explained.
Some of the roads which are going to be constructed include Katwe Bypass, Baines Terrace, Birch Avenue, Alexander Road, Solar Street lighting along Kitovu – Nyendo, Speke Road, Section of Masaka High way, Masaka Mbarara High way and Masaka Mutukula High way.
All the ongoing roads construction works in the city are under Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development -Additional Finance (USMID)AF) and it was founded by the World Bank and the government of Uganda.
It will cost thirty-three billion four Hundred one million six hundred fourth six thousand three hundred sixty one only plus VAT inclusive (33.401,646,361) and it is going to last for the period of fifteen months (15)months and by 12th /August 2022 they expect the work to be completed.
