Onek, while speaking at a local Television station this Friday morning says, Karamajongs take the largest portion of the blame for their deaths as majority are alcoholics who spend the greatest portion of the day consuming the local brew.
“These people here take too much waragi from morning to evening of each day. They are not dying of hunger but waragi consumption. You cannot take waragi on an empty stomach. It’s a death sentence on its own,” says Minister Onek. “I want to appeal to the government to institute a ban on the consumption of waragi beverages in Karamoja. It is the reason we are registering all these fatalities,” he emphasized.
