After launching in late 2018, Next Radio left many of it’s competitors in shock.
Branded as the first visual-audio radio station in the country, Next Radio was expected to be a big hit but little did they know that it would not have massive appeal to the listeners.
Next Radio has changed its programming and presenters twice since its launch, trying to compete with the ‘big boys’ in industry but it has all not paid off.
With the most recent changes happening less than a year ago that saw the likes of Martha Kay, Richard Tuwangye, Maritza, and more coming in, it has failed to work just like their first take when they hired some of the industry’s best radio presenters like Marcus Kwikiriza, Hakeem The Dream among others.
Well, the latest on our desk indicates that the Naguru-based radio station is planning on rebranding to a full Luganda station with a local audience in mind.
Next Radio has reportedly already started on the plan by hiring Bukedde FM’s Dj Ssuna Ben and Ann Taylor who is also expected to work on Sanyuka TV.
The future of presenters who can’t cope with full Luganda programming remains uncertain as the radio station continues to struggle to get a big breakthrough.
