The National Unity Platform party has come out to disown a malicious document purportedly released by detractors and ill intentioned people who want to taint the image of the party.

On Monday, a divisive document emerged on social media platforms and implicated the NUP elections management committee members of having based on religious grounds as one of the yardstick to resolve on candidates. In the malicious document, it was widely mentioned that one of the factors that made Latiff Ssebaggala outstanding than his counterpart, Joseph Mayanja was the fact that he was a Muslim, a denomination that is widely appealing to the Kampala electorate for the Lord Mayor seat.
The NUP however has dismissed the document and urged the members of the public to treat it with the contempt it deserves.
“Our attention has been drawn to a fake, misleading form, purportedly used to do ground assessment for our candidates. Please treat it with the contempt it deserves. it is fake & misleading. Here are the forms used by our EMC to do ground assessment as well as vet candidates,” the NUP said in a Tuesday tweet.
Similarly, the party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi said that document was faked and made by malicious propagandists who want to divide NUP supporters on religious grounds. “The document on the left is fake, please treat it with the contempt it deserves. The correct template that was used in assessing NUP aspirants is the one on the right. Political interests should not cause us to become such liars!,” he said in a Facebook post
