The National Unity Platform party Electoral management and vetting committee says they will need two more days to give their final verdict regarding the deferred verdicts in some competitive constituencies in Kampala.

Among the deferred constituencies is the Rubaga North where the KCCA speaker, Abubaker Kawalya is tussling it out with the new NUP entrant and incumbent legislator, Moses Kasibante who migrated from the Democratic Party a month ago. Reports on ground show a stiff competition between the two but odds are high that Kasibanta may be outpaced according to knowledgeable people on ground.
In Makindye West, renowned Makerere student activist, Musiri David who has been a member of the People Power movement from its inception is pulling ropes with the incumbent Allan Ssewanyana who also shifted his base from DP to NUP. The heated race has seen the committee scratching heads on whom to award the flag between the two. On ground, it is said that Musiri has been hardworking after claiming NUP commendable victory in the concluding youth polls. Musiri has mobilized for the NUP party to the point that in Makindye, one can’t talk about Bobi Wine without attaching his name to the conversation.
Another dramatic moment is in Kawempe North where the Electoral management committee and NUP secretariat member, Sulaiman Kidandala is tussling it out with the virtually endeared Muhammad Ssegirinya alias Mr. Updates. Although the social media poll puts Ssegirinya in the lead with people tasking the committee to reward him the flag given his unrelenting support for the struggle, on ground work it seems a different story but we leave it to the committee to decide.
In Kawempe South, Dr. Roy Ssemboga a coordinator of institutions and a long time confidant to Bobi Wine is battling with media personality and UJA president, Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira. The former Makerere guild president says he deserves it all since he has been with Bobi Wine all the way from Kyadondo East when Kazibwe was nowhere. Much as Roy’s campaign slogan ‘Baliwa’ is gaining traction from his sympathizers, people on ground say Kazibwe Bashir is more entrenched on ground and hence if NUP wants a sure victory then he could be the right person to carry their ticket. We await the NUP committee final verdict on the aforementioned constituencies.
