Pastor Martin Ssempa of Makerere Community Church has voiced strong criticism against entertainers who engage in cross-dressing, labeling it harmful to societal morals.
Ssempa expressed concerns about male performers dressing in women’s clothing and adopting feminine behavior, as well as female entertainers displaying masculine traits. He described this trend as damaging to moral values and societal norms.
In a recent interview, the pastor specifically criticized comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi for dressing as a woman during his performances.
He said the comedian’s recent show, claiming that he brought men dressed as women onto the stage.
Commenting on comedian Senga Sebanga’s media appearances dressed as a woman, Sempa voiced strong disapproval, stating that he cannot tolerate seeing a man dressed as a woman on television.
He added to raise these concerns with Nyombi Tembo, the Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission, in a bid to address what he perceives as the erosion of moral standards.
In addition, Sempa directed criticism toward singer Azawi for what he described as her ‘masculine’ demeanor and Elijah Kitaka for wearing short shorts, deeming the fashion choice inappropriate for men.
Media personality Kasuku also came under scrutiny for reportedly adopting similar trends.
In his closing remarks, Ssempa urged these entertainers to reconsider their fashion choices, embrace more positive behavior, and become better role models for society.
