Pia Pounds believes the ABM Music Camp is a step in the right direction for local creatives to learn from some of the best producers, songwriters, and instrumentalists from across Europe and other parts of Africa. The ABM Music Camp kicked off on 3rd March at the African Bureau of Music Hub in Kampala. Several creatives from Europe and East Africa commenced the 6-day program that will benefit them creatively.Speaking to Spark TV, Pia Pounds who is signed to the ABM music label noted that the visiting creatives are passionate about music and the African sound and they will also teach the local creatives so much in terms of better sound and production. We founded the African Bureau of Music in 2019 and the Swedish were so interested in the African sound. and African instruments.
My manager and I are also very passionate about the African sound in general. So we are hosting producers, songwriters, and other creatives from Europe to help teach us about their modes of creation.
It will help us create better sound and connect us to other influential creatives out there. She further expressed her dream to be a global star and how such programs are of benefit to local artists to learn how music is made for the international audience.“My first hit song was featured on Netflix. I always think internationally because it is my dream to be a global star. Music is very lucrative but Ugandan artists struggle a lot so this is an opportunity for us to learn and grow,” Pia Pounds noted.
