The Uganda police director of crime intelligence Col Serunjoji Damulira has said police do not operate by arresting people using drones.
Recently ,the public has been awash with news of abductions carried out by plain clothed personell who usually dump their victims in High-speed Toyota Hiace vehicles aka “drones”before speeding off into thin air.
Damulira said during a joint security presser at Naguru police headquaters that security organs dont operate by capturing people in such manner and that should be investigated.
In the same presser ,the Kampala Acting Traffic Director Lawrence Niwabiine noted that much as drones without numberplates need to be investigated for moving illegally, the public needs to be critical before concluding that all of them are involved in kidnappings.
Niwabiine, who has defended numberless drones explains that most have smaller than usual number plates that often fall off when they arrive as they head to car bonds.
“When drone vans are being imported, they come with very small number plates that always fall off on the way. That’s why some of them have no number plates though the media tends to blow it out of proportion,” Lawrence Niwabiine.
He has asked the public to desisit from blowing up issues on social media before getting their facts right.
