The Uganda Police Force head of Fleet management CP James Apora has suspended all police drivers who have been involved in serious accidents from duty.
In a message addressed to all Directors, Unit Commanders, RPCs, DPCs and fleet management officers, Apora directed that the said drivers be suspended from driving police vehicles until their cases are disposed of.
“All unit commanders are advised to take note of this message and not to deploy them to drive police vehicles. By copy of this message Director Traffic and Road Safety is kindly requested to expedite the investigations surrounding these accidents” Apora says.
Those suspended are Cpl Kidulu Samuel driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 4782, PC Oteede Tom driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 4776, SPC Aneno Amina driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 1929, PC Yeko Joseph driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 5736, PC Lemeriga Amidu driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 5743.
Others are; Kivengyere Elly driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 7632, PC Okeny Patrick driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 7735, Cpl Onyait David Victor driver of Vehicle Reg. No UP 5504, Cpl Odong Kenneth driver of vehicle Reg. No UP 4844, Cpl Okot Moses vehicle Reg. No UP 5982, SPC Ogwal Joel Bob for UP 4756, PC Akampurira Brian vehicle Reg. No UP 4761, PC Ezuma Jimmy vehicle Reg. No UP 5451, SPC Awio Francis vehicle Reg. No UP 4763, and PC Opolot Julius Richard for vehicle Reg. No IJAM 055P.
All the vehicles cost 228,600,000 Ugandan shillings in repairs.
