The Uganda Police Force spokesperson CP Fred Enanga has disclosed that they are investigating a viral video on social media showing a severely injured man who alleges to have been assaulted from Sembabule district.
“We are investigating a footage of a man that went viral on Monday morning where a yet to be identified man claims that he was assaulted out of incidents of political rivalry in the NRM primaries in Sembabule district, in Mawogola constituency,” Enanga said.
According to him, they have interested themselves in the video due to the grave injuries it depicts and want to establish how and who assaulted him.
He revealed that the information Police so far has is of a case of attempted murder which was reported at Sembabule Police Station on Sunday September 27, at around 10 am by a one Muganga Albert, 50 year old businessman of Muyenga, Makindye division in Kampala.
Muganga informed police that a group of 20 people armed with pangas, sticks and spears led by a one Kyabahwa Justus, a resident of Lyantonde town Council attacked his workers at his farm located in Bukiraje village in Ntuusi sub-county.
Two of his workers; Benon Tayebwa and Frank Nasasira were severely injured.
It is said that the same group of about 20 people led by Kyabahwa Justus demolished Muganga’s houses for the workers and also unlawfully drove his cattle from his farm.
Apparently, police has arrested 5 suspects also with serious injuries because of the fierce fight between the two groups and they include Tonny Muwanguzi, Edwin Ziwa, Hassan Byaruhanga, Sentongo Shafik and Dancawa Farouk who are all residents of Kampala city and are admitted at Sembabule Health Centre for treatment.
“We are monitoring them because these are the people who descended onto the farm of Mr. Muganga Albert,” Enanga said
“We are now trying to get the connectivity because there was no fight yesterday in Sembabule over incidents of political rivalry in the two camps of NRM. So the victim should indicate to us very clearly how he sustained those injuries. What we have is indicating that those injuries could have been connected to the land wrangle that is between Muganga Albert and Kyabahwa Justus,” Enanga stated.
