Moments after the murder of Zebra, president Museveni in his televised address admitted that government was behind the murder of the slain boxing coach. “I did not know Zebra. I was however, told he was supposed to meet me because he was doing some good work for us (mobilising for NRM in Kawempe division). He had even taken Covid-19 test. I was also told he was training boxers who then would be used by some people to attack civilians,” Museveni said.
“Later on when I inquired, I was told that Zebra was doing a great job (mobilizing for NRM in Kawempe). I, however, got some information on how some of the people he trained were being used to cause havoc,” Museveni added in his New year address.
We have Zebra killers
A source in security says the killers of the fallen boxing champions are high ranking officers in the forces and that only a presidential order can have them apprehended. “We cannot just arrest them before getting permission from the head of state,” a source in security says. “However, we have wrote to the president asking for his consent. If he gives us a go ahead, we will apprehend the culprits and have them charged,” he adds.
