State Labour minister Hon Mwesigwa Rukutana has been declared the winner in the Rushenyi County NRM Primaries race.
According to NRM EC Chairperson Tanga Odoi, Rukutana got 25,310 votes beating Naome Kabasharira who attained 25,290 votes.
Kabasharira was first declared winner of the election while the minister was arrested for shooting at her supporters.
He was charged with attempted murder and jailed at Kitalya prison.
He was later released on bond and declared leading in the Rushenyi race.
The move provoked protests which raged in Ntungamo for days as residents rejected him citing rigging.
