Runaway prisoner chops father
Police in Namisindwa district have busted a fugitive who recently escaped from jail for killing his 72 year old real father over a disputed acre of land.
Maguma Rogers alias Wetaya 28, is accused of mercilessly stabbing his father identified as Masayi Wilson, 72 with a machete on Sunday night and fleeing his residence. Masayi’s lifeless body was found with multiple deep cuts to the head and neck.

Both the suspect Maguma and his father are residents of Bumakuma village, Buwatuwa Sub county, Namisindwa district.
The Elgon Regional Police Spokesperson, Rogers Taitika says Maguma who has been on the most wanted list of criminals had just escaped from prison. He says the incident happened in the night while Maguma, his deceased father and other family members were having supper at their residence.

According to Maguma’s biological mother (names withheld), her son confronted the father on the said piece of family land and demanded to be given a portion, something the father vehemently denied. An infuriated Maguma took offence and ordered his deceased father one more time to follow his command but that didn’t work.
Maguma waited after super, dashed for a panga that he used to stab the father severally killing him immediately. He proceeded to threaten death to his mother and sibling should they report the matter to the police.
Taitika says police later visited the scene and found the body lying in a pool of blood with multiple wounds. The suspect was trailed and arrested on Monday on charges of murder.
The body of the deceased has been delivered to the City Mortuary Mbale.
