MASAKA: Masaka city female youth councilor Rostie Nansubuga who doubles as the secretary for gender on the executive committee of the city has blasted women who are moving around on the streets spreading rumors to their fellow women calling them prostitutes.
Ms. Nasubuga has discouraged those calling fellow women “Horizontal Investors” meaning sex workers, selling their bodies to men especially motorcycle”Boda Boda” riders, tax drivers, civil servants, and other people.
Nansubuga made her remarks at Masaka sports club during the Women’s day for Masaka city and she shocked the audience gathered at the venue when she was given a microphone and she stated, “Some women spend most of their time defaming others who achieve something good. When someone buys a plot of land, car she referred to as a prostitute. This is wrong, it should stop!”.
“Some women think that a woman can not do anything nice in her life and when she has a good posh car or any other developmental, they start telling locals that she is selling her goodies in order to get money,” Nansubuga said.
Rostie Nansubuga praised the president of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni for the good behaviors and discipline he has installed in Uganda’s Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) especially those ones from Kasijjagirwa barracks which is commanded by Brig: Deus Sande.
Janat Saka one of the woman leaders in this region has appealed to all women in Uganda especially those ones in Masaka to form groups because the government is ready to inject a lot of money to eradicate famine and poverty.
Women also asked the government to inject more money into helping all those who can afford to use it to develop their groups, Saccos, and organizations.
She called upon all educated to apply for jobs from Masaka City, and other cities, local governments, and private companies.
The Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Kimaanya – Kabonera Ahmad Kateregga Musaazi told women to utilize the opportunities available under this government to develop.
Mr. Kateregga told residents of Masaka to continue supporting president Museveni’s projects aimed at fighting poverty like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga among others.
The Mayor of Masaka city Her Worship Florence Namayanja appealed to all men to give support to their wives to realize development in their homes.
All Ugandans have been encouraged to plant trees so that they can protect the environment.
The function was attended by Brig Gen Deus Sande, DPC Masaka SP Moses Nanok, officials from Mengo government and Central government.
