Residents of Kiyunga, Kyampisi Sub County in Mukono district are in shock after two men fought to death over a woman. Hassan Kiwango 45, a timber dealer and Hakim Katende 48, a driver, both residents at Kiyunga living in neighborhood of about 100 metres died on Friday following a fight over Katende’ wife.Residents say Katende has been accusing Kiwango of having an affair with his wife, Dorothy Birungi, which caused a stir between their two families.Kiyunga LCI Chairperson Douglas Ssekalegga says Kiwango was staying with his two children aged 12 and 4 years, in the absence of his wife who went to Saudi Arabia for foreign employment.Ssekalegga revealed that the dispute between the duo’s issues were brought before local council-LCI committee for mediation and had been resolved. However, open quarrels resumed this month compelling the LCI committee to take the matter today to Kiyunga mosque to be resolved by the Imam. But to everyone’s shock, Katende attacked Kiwango on Friday morning before the Imam’s meeting could take place and hacked him to death. He cut him on the neck, hands and at the back several times. However, Kiwango also beat Katende badly that he was also found dead later on. According to Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, detectives from Naggalama police station visited the scene of crime and found the deceased’s body lying upside down in front of his house with multiple deep cuts on the entire body. However after systematic examination of the scene, detectives saw drops of blood which they followed to Kigaga zone where another dead body of Katende was found with multiple cuts. The two bodies were conveyed to Kayunga hospital for postmortem, while Katende’s wife and children have been taken to Police for safe custody. Police has since deployed at Katende’s home to quell any action of damaging properties by members of the public.
