1. Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe (Vice Chancellor)
Judging by his fire aftermath reaction and comments, one cannot exonerate this learned professor of architecture. On Sunday morning, Nawangwe rushed to conclude how he was going to rally alumni and stakeholders to restore the building contrary to the people’s expectations as many had thought he would begin with a probe into the fire cause. The professor was also among the very first people to reach the scene at about 2am according to reliable reports. Given his history of having not studied from Makerere and how close he is to the first family, many believe he was intentionally deployed to destroy Uganda’s highest institution of learning. Even amid calls from the public tasking him to tender in his resignation, Nawangwe has adamantly declined to heed. Important to note is the fact that the fire happened a day into the audit of the office of the Vice Chancellor.
2. Jackie Ayokire (Finance Director)
She handles the Finance and grants department. The flamboyant amazingly endowed economist in in her late-40s. She is said to be one of the concubines of the Vice Chancellor which is why she wields high authority and command at the main building. Jackie and Nawangwe spearhead a money laundering syndicate that mismanaged most of the university internal and external funds. Because a shs 8b probe had been ordered by parliament, it is very possible that the duo colluded to set the Finance and Accounts office on fire. The investigating team should interest itself in why the fire had to of all officers spark from the Finance and Accounts side.
3. Gordon Murangira (Personal Assistant to Nawangwe)
The personal assistant to the Vice Chancellor is widely known to be a scandalous fella among his peers. Mr. Murangira is a poodle that will do anything instructed by his boss. Reliable sources say he could have been tasked to superintend the execution of this mission. The police should follow up Mr. Murangira’s phone contacts a day before and after the fire.
4. University Secretary (Mr. Yusuf Kiranda)
Sources reveal that days before the fire, the university secretary Mr. Yusuf Kiranda had been leaving the main building very late past curfew hours something that left many puzzled and wondering why he had to keep within at such late hours.
5. Security personnel at the main building
The police officer and one security guard are already in detention to aid the investigations. It is a great gesture to start with. The duo can be interrogated to explain why they were not on the scene at the time the fire emerged. It appears that they were either deliberately absent or part of the deal.
