Chameleone appeared before the committee after holding a presser at one of the high end hotels where he hosted a delegation of musicians to beef up his campaign. Upon completion of the presser, Chameleone rushed to the Electoral Commission offices to fetch nomination forms before he appeared before the NUP vetting committee. A source in the NUP says Chameleone was asked a series of questions about his candidature. “We asked him about what a Lord Mayor does, what plans he has for the party,” the source says.
Moments later, Latiff Ssebagala also appeared to be vetted amid loud cheers from his supporters. The other contender, Al Hajj Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala did not appear because he is bed ridden according to reports from his aide.
Similarly, FDC’s sole candidate for the Lord Mayoral seat, Ssalongo Erias Lukwago has also unleashed his campaign team this morning at his Wakaliga residence in Rubaga, Kampala. Lukwago is panicking due to the escalating force exerted by the NUP which apparently holds a stronghold in Kampala.
