StarTimes Uganda Big League side Mbale Heroes FC has unveiled the 3rd coach to take over managerial duties at the club this season since Richard Makumbi relieved himself from the role at the end of last season to look for greener pastures elsewhere.
Makumbi, the promotional “specialist” left after guiding the Mbale side to the the FUFA Big League promotional play offs finals which they lost to Kitara who eventually qualified to the Uganda Premier League. He has since moved on to extend his tactics to Mbarara side Nyamityobora FC, and upto 3 Coaches have so far been appointed to replace him already.
The Mbale based side is still winless after playing 3 games in the Big League this season. They have lost one and drawn two, sending them to panic mode and resolving to change management immediately.
Mbale Heroes’ most previous head coach, Bobic Odowa led the team to a 1-0 loss away to Gaddafi in Jinja, drew 1-1 against Phaidha Black Angels in Zombo and 0-0 against Calvary FC at home in Mbale. And it’s that last game against Calvary in the league that mostly caused trouble for Odowa. He was now already on fire, then he led the team to a 1-0 loss against Gadafi FC in the first leg of the Uganda Cup round of 32.
Ali Kheri has now been appointed Head Coach of Mbale Heroes FC to immediately turn things around, after sacking of Bobic Odowa and all his assistants Lutula Cartouche and Musa Nandala. Fans believed that Odowa and his assistant Lutula had divided the team into sects with each player paying parallel allegiance to one of the coaches, hence deterring teamed up efforts.
Bobic Odowa, a former player at the club was first introduced as an assistant to Scottish tactician, Stephen Pritchard before finally fully taking over the mantle after his boss (Pritchard) was unveiled at Mbale heroes, but left without managing a single game at the club. Pritchard had previously served as head coach at Kasese New Villa, Kigezi Home Boys and the Rwenzori province in the FUFA drum tournament.
Mbale Heroes’ new head coach is a CAF ‘B’ license holder. He was unveiled this week in a press briefing at Mt. Elgon Hotel Mbale. He will be assisted by CAF ‘A’ license holder Robert Mayanja plus CAF ‘C’ license coach David Kiwanuka. They will take charge with immediate effect.
Kheri has a big task ahead of him already to immediately overturn a one goal deficit against Jinja side Gadafi FC in the Cup having lost by a goal to nil on the road. he will also be expected to start picking positive results in the FUFA Big League.
Kheri brings vast coaching experience at Mbale Heroes having worked with Kisumu All Stars, Jinja Arsenal, Jinja Municipal Council Hippos, Paidha Black Angels, Victoria University and BUL FC.
