According to reports close to the arrangements, president Magufuli did not issue any invitation card to his Ugandan counterpart and it appears that Museveni is acting on his own. “Magufuli did not issue any invitation letter. We didn’t see it anywhere,” an official in State house told this site but declined to be quoted. “Even when Museveni issued a congratulatory note, Magufuli didn’t show any acknowledgement. This is strange for our bilateral partnership,” tge official adds.
However, despite this fall out, Museveni has forced his way to Tanzania to hold talks with Magufuli and attend his inauguration even without a formal invite. The 76 year old despot has announced his sudden departure on social media after waiting for an invite in vain.
“Departure to Tanzania for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect John Pombe Magufuli,” Museveni wrote on his Facebook this afternoon and attached a video clip of himself boarding the presidential jet.
