Writing in the 2nd edition of Sowing the Mustard Seed, in 2016, Museveni said three people including his mother, the deceased Esteeri Kokundeka (RIP) helped him find out the rightful details of his date of birth. Museveni says his mother told him he was born “like three months before the ekikatu (the mass cattle vaccination) of ishara-matu (when the cattle’s ears were being notched).”
“Fortunately, one of the veterinary guards that took part in that vaccination, Serugyendo (a Mufumbira from Kisoro) was still alive. He was a godsend. When I invited him to Rwakitura [Museveni’s country home], he was unequivocal. The vaccination in Ntungamo took place between the 24 and 28 of November 1944,” Museveni explains in his book.
Although multiple sources say Museveni us much older than he claims, the tyrant successfully altered the online documentation of his age. Multiple internet sites have admitted September, 15, 1944 as his actual age. But it remains unclear how he found his way into the preceding regimes at a much younger age and served in various Defence Ministry positions.
Some of his Bush war contemporaries stress that Museveni is much older than he claims. The renegade Col. Samson Mande strains that by the time Museveni ascended to power, he was an elderly man in his late 40’s. “Happy 81st birthday Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni. For those who do not know, Yoweri Museveni was born in current day Rwanda in 1939 and moved to Uganda at age 5 with his mother Esteri Kokundeka (R.I.P) His mother married a one Kaguta and they later seperated , and Museveni was forced to leave the Kaguta home too, and sought sanctuary at the Byanyima family. Museveni’s real father relocated from Rwanda to Tanzania, where he later died,” says a credible source who declined to be announced in fear of reprisals.
