Speaking to the press immediately after her nomination, a joyful Nabillah lauded the NUP for embracing and adopting her as their own after a bumpy ride political journey and harassment allegedly meted out on her by her former party, FDC. Nabillah relates her situation to a marriage where a woman can be in her matrimonial home and be mistreated by her man. Nabillah says such a woman can still find solace in a homestead of another hospitable man.
“After 15 years of being married to FDC, with all our children, they treated me like trash, threw me out on the streets. Now a youthful man (NUP) has come to my rescue, wiped away all my tears. I now even feel more appreciated and beautiful,” she says.
She also describes her nomination as a gesture that the NUP confides and emancipates the women. She says this is a score for all the women in politics and further urged them to join the friendly non-selective NUP. She further urged all Ugandans to accept and support Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine for the top seat of presidency in 2021.
